A ripe, lush, masculine version of Grenache for us at levo. This 2017 Grenache is one for the ages and was defined by a prolonged heatwave midway through harvest, that gave us optimum ripeness and flavor. Aged in varying large format, neutral barrels, 400L, 500L and 600L helped respect the delicate nature of Grenache, while highlighting freshness and elegance. We dolloped small amounts of Syrah and Petite Sirah to build structure, age-ability, and nuance. Vibrant ruby red in the glass, this wine erupts with cinnamon-dusted raspberries, scorched earth, strawberry lip smacker, pine needles, blood orange, ripe figs, and white pepper. Best after 2+ hour decant, serve at cellar temp (55 degrees). Age up to 10 years.
